Objective: improving the health status of orphaned children and children deprived of parental care on the basis of determining the factors influencing their health disturbance as well as improving medico-social assistance to those children. Methods: intergrated thorough clinical observation, anthropometric psychological (Ravenne's and Mustenberger's tests, group interviews), sociological (interviewing and questioning) and hygienic (medical documents appraisal by experts) investigations. The state of health of orphaned children and children deprived of parental care, at the stages of ontogeny from the first months of their life up to 18 years of age was given a systemic description. A low level of health, disharmony in physical development, a significant incidence of psychic and nervous diseases as well as nourishment problems were established at early periods of life. There were revealed: certain features in physical adaptation and individuum development of orphaned children; disorders in intellectual, speech, motoric and emotional spheres at an early age; peculiarities of individual development in the sphere of life interests and distribution of life values; lagging behind in intellectual development and decrease in mental abilities in schoolchildren. There were established certain drawbacks in sanitary and hygienic providing of the orphans staying at state boarding schools, as well as imperfection of medical assistance. Principles of psychosomatic and psychologic rehabilitation of such children and optimization of their medical support were worked out. Effectivity: an increase in health quality of orphaned children and children deprived of parental care.
