Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 Cytological, cytogenetic and molecular markers have been studies in malignant lymphoid cells exposed to anticancer drugs and biologically active substances. Long-term incubation of Namalwa cells with subtoxic doses of vepeside resulted in deletions of the L-MYC fragments and appearance of the extra fragment of C-MYC. At the same time vepeside and fludarabine have not affect structural alterations of BCL-2. Upon subtoxic exposure to fludarabine rDNA amplification has been registered in parallel with the cytogenetic alterations. The different patterns of alteration of various genes upon exposure to vepeside and fludarabine in B- and T-cell cultures suggest the selectivity of target genes for chemotherapeutic drugs with different mechanisms of DNA damaging effects. The deletions and rearrangements induced by low dose of vepeside may represent the genetic markers of recombinogenic and gene-specific effects of DNA topoisomerase II inhibitors. The cytogenetic and biomolecular markers of ovarian cancer have been studied (ploidity, PCNA expression, and AgNOR). The genetic heterogeneity of ovarian cancer in response to the treatment (increase in functional activity of rRNA genes, increased proliferative potential) was registered.
