Purpose of the work: to evaluate the timber resources of the Ukrainian Carpathians in general, to forecast the future and the directions of the future development of the forestry in the region. Methods of the research: forest valuation. The data concerning location, area, tectonic structure and geomorphology of the Ukrainian Carpathians is generalized, the hydrologic conditions on their territory are characterized, the description of the ground, the climatic conditions, and the vegetation of the Carpathian region is given, the overall significance of the forests is emphasized, the forest valuation data of the timber resources of the Ukrainian Carpathians is analysed, and the future and the directions of the future development of the forestry in the region are forecasted in the report. The generalized description of the timber resources of the region is given. Formation of the present forestry of the region in the result of the influence of natural and anthropologic factors is analysed. The following apportion of the grounds covered with forest vegetation is made: in accordance with the users of the forestry; in accordance with the age classes and the prevailing species; in accordance with the completeness and the classes of the species; and, the apportion of the timber resources in accordance with the age classes of the trees is made. General conclusion concerning the quality state of the forests of the mountains is made.
