Intravenous injection of C60 fullerenes, beginning from the fourth month of experimental atherosclerosis, relaxed the endothelial cells, which makes interendothelial contacts more tight, prevent adhesion and transendothelial migration of mononuclear cells to aorta intima and stopped the progression and promoted the aorta athero-sclerotic lesions reversion. Furthermore, preincubation human monocytes with C60 fullerenes (10-6 M) decreased migration of cells in response on atherogenic immune complexes.
