Malaya of Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences" popup.description2 126 patients with arterial hypertension (AH) and metabolic syndrome X (MS) and 44 with AH and without MS manifestations have been investigated with the use of clinical, biochemical, instrumental, immune-enzyme, genetic and dermatoglyphic methods. A model of the inherited metabolic syndrome X has been worked with account of the effects of population processes on its manifestations; peculiarities of dermatoglyphics AH-associated indices have been revealed on the basis of which the risk of AH development could be established. The role of LPO activation, markers of inflammation (increase of fibrinogen levels), increase of neuropeptide Y and leptyn blood levels in the formation of insulin-resistance and MS progression has been established. The advantages for patients with AH and MS have been shown for combined therapy with the use of antihypertensive (drugs of first line and imidazoline receptor antagonists), hypolipidemic agents (statins) in effective doses that do not result in the significant metabolic disturbances and side effects, against the background of efficacious non-drug measures, purposed on body mass reduction.
