Malaya of Ukrainian Academy of Medical Sciences" popup.description2 192 female patients with IHD in climacteric period have been investigated with the use of biochemical, instrumental and immune-enzyme methods. Assessment of platelet aggregation has been held with automated technique. It has been reveled that in women in climacteric period the disturbances of estrogens synthesis take place, resulting in the imbalance of vasoconstrictors and vasorelaxants, activation of platelet formation, initial disturbances of platelet homeostasis. Clinical manifestations of climacteric syndrome (CS) often coincide with the IHD onset. It has been established that endothelial dysfunction is one of the key factors of atherogenesis and IHD development in women, and additional administration of ACE inhibitors and statins (in particular, symvastatin) against the background of antianginal therapy favors more apparent clinical and metabolic effects of vasorelaxation. Symvastatine administration for IHD treatment improves, in addition to positive effects on blood lipid spectrum, the CS course as well. This indicates the additional pleiotropic statins' effects in women. Combined administration of statins and hormone-substitutive therapy in women suffering from IHD on the stage of menopause, results in the improvement of their clinical condition as well as prevents the progression of atherothrombosis processes due to both improvement of endothelium functional state and attenuation of atherogenic functions of lipoproteins and aggregative platelet properties.
