The basic methods of theoretical investigation of inverse scattering diagrams have been analysed for different ratios of the wavelength and characteristic sizes of the scattering object. A contactless remote radio wave method of diagnostics of the degree of erosive wear of blades during turbine operation has been suggested. It is based on analysing the features of the inverse scattering diagram of a 4-mm probing wave reflected from the blades. the experimental investigation results presented confirm the high sensitivity of the method suggested to the initial stages of erosive wear, and different simulated degrees, of erosive damage. The R&D results can be used in developing instrumentation and techniques for monitoringerosive wear of blades in an operating turbine by using radio wave methods.
