These events were responsible for coalification and resulted in transformation of buried plants fragments into hard, liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons. Within the limits of Ukrainian part of methane gas-chemical province of the Donets Basin the geochemical transformations of organic matter and palaeclimatic environments during the Carboniferous coal formation have been studied. The regimes of hydrocarbon generation were estimated and prognostic criteria in terms of coal seams with outbursting hazards were determined.
