Aim of the study: To compare patients' immune status and blood lymphocyte ultrastructure at the beginning and 4-6 yearsafter the onset of type1 dia-betes mellitus Methods: Immunological, morphological, biochemical methods.Results to be expected: New data have been obtained, suggesting that in children with type 1 diabetes mellitus for a period of 4-6 years - in the presence of a normalization of carbohydrate metabolism indices - immune disturbances persist:increased amount- immune disturbances persist: increased amount of monocytes and decreased content of lymphocytes with CD3+, CD4+, and CD56+ immunophenotype, which are associated with changes in cell ultrastructure and function, i.e. changes that are characteristic of the initial stage of disease. In order to increase treatment efficacy, prevent complications, and improve the quality of patients' life, immunocorrecting agents are suggested to be used.
