It is shown that the fire-fighting ability of the "Pyrocool" type substances is connected both with inhibition action on the process of flame burning of the material, and with its cooling ability. Besides that the high fire-fighting efficiency is connected with formation of the polymeric film covering the burning surface of the liquid fuel too. The fire-fighting ability of water increases considerably by addition of small amounts of the "Pyrocool" type substances to it. Such behavior of water, to all appearance, can be explained by that fact that these additives raise the wetting power of water, what results in increase of efficiency and hightening the cooling ability of water owing to augmentation of the wetting surface. The results of the research and research-and-development works will be used in recommendations on application of the "Pyrocool" type substances for fighting the underground fires.
