The objective of the research effort is to provide the personnel, population and environmental health protection against ionizing radiation sources impact by means of development of the hygienic and sanitary requirements to conditions of work and safe operation of uranium mines. As a method of research, the analytical survey of the legislative and standard-technical requirements from the operating documents of the USSR and international organizations (ICRP, Euroatom, IAEA) is to be applied. The novelty of work consists in development of new version of the Sanitary Regulations for Uranium Mines Operation (SPEUR) where the requirements of NRBU-97 (Radiation Safety Standards of Ukraine), NRBU-97/D2000, OSPU (General Sanitary Regulations of Ukraine), PBPRM-2001(Safety Regulations forRadioactive Materials Management) and other normative documents being in force in Ukraine to be reflected, which regulate the hygienic and sanitary requirements to conditions of work of uranium mines personnel. SPEUR contains the requirements to: -general plans of uranium mines; -mining activities performance; -sanitary, common and health services for mining complex workers; -personal protectors; -supervisory service for conditions of work; -equipment decontamination; -mining waste management; -radiation safety, physical and environmental protection. The area of application is uranium mines of Ukraine. SPEUR is the national standard, the requirements of which concern all the enterprises that deal with uranium deposits exploration and operation as well as is obligatory for performance at the territory of Ukraine by all legal and physical persons that carry out this kind of activity.
