The target of the work is the elaboration of data base on salt formations and mineral deposits related, as well as prospects of their use for underground construction as well as compilation of the atlas containing graphic reflection of these formations main characteristics. In the territory of the Ukraine there exist four salt bearing geological regions: Dnieper-Donets depression, Nearcarpathian foredeep, Transcarpathian depression and Neardobrudgea foredeep. Seven salt formations are spread in these regions. The report includes two parts: data base and the atlas "Salt formations of the Ukraine". Data base includes: catalog of key sections, schemes of key sections location and cards of sections. Data base is presented in electronic version. The atlas includes schemes and maps of three kinds: sketch ( mainly small-scale ), basic ( small and middle-scale ) and specialized ( from small-scale to middle- and large-scale). Cartographic matherials of the atlas are compiled on two principles: conventional and computer. As a whole the set of basic maps with matherials initial ( sections, profiles) represent different scale digital models of salt formations and their separate lithostratigraphic parts. The models contain the information on two directories: structural and lythological. The development of models is based upon authors principle of comprehensive structural-lythologikal models for formations lythological bodies on the basis of system approach. These models have two functions: informatic and prognostic. The explanatory note comprises abbreviated texts for the maps. The work having been developed represents a basis for the foundation of informative-expert system basing upon permanently acting computer model of salt-formations, which has two destinations: informatic and analytical-prognostic. Analytical-prognostic function is aimed at management and securing of prognostic, search, exploration and exploitation works on minerals related to salt formations genetically ( rock salt, potassium and magnesium salts, brines ) and paragenetically ( oil-gas deposits, ore mineralization etc. ) as well as salt massifs use for underground cavities construction.
