The aim of this work is to create the reference group of the rock and ore samples, centralized digital database of the main types of the rocks as well. The project has been carried out in two different directions to achieve the aim. The first was to create the collection of the main types of the rocks and ore, and their next systematization. All the samples are now in the Institute of Geochemistry Mineralogy Ore formation of Ukraine. The second course was to create the database, which includes the petrographical descriptions of the rocks and ore, mineral and chemical constitutions of the selected samples, radiometric age-dating, digital imaging of the thin sections and rock-samples. Besides the geographical survey we also need the strict location survey to define the extensional position of the selected samples. It lets us use these data as a model of "covering" by the detailed geologicalinformation of the most meaning and studied structures of the Ukrainian Shield. To solve the problem of making the different thematic database collection we have created the data-base on the magnetic-carrier. It's a version, where geological, analytical and photo information on the samples of the collection appears in the form of linked tables. The solution of this question was executed by the use of MS Access and Excel. The ActiveX-control from MapInfo "MapX" for GIS-data graphing was used as well. The area of application - geological sciences. The value of the project consists in saving of the geological legacy of numerous researchers' and giving the specialists the possibility to use the collection.
