New mineral-like materials for radwaste immobilization are elaborated on a basis of theoretical and experimental research. Material choosing criteria for radwaste facility engineering barriers are developed. Peculiarities of radionuclide distribution within the radwaste facilities, environmental impact of existing facilities and role of geological surrounding as natural safety barriers for repositories are investigated.
