Recent views of the processes that occur in coal-bearing strata in mining of protective overlap are considered. Laboratory research of coal bed gas content is made at the area overworked by protective overlap. Pilot research in coal mines is conducted as a result of which at the state-of-the-art depths of coal bed mining protective overlap advanced development parameters are determined.
