Purpose of the research: Preclinical evaluation of the functional suitability of 67Ga citrate (produced in Ukraine) for differential diagnosis of malignant tumors. Methods of the research and equipment: Biochemical, hematological, biophysical, morphological, mathematical statistical; automatic gas analyzer М-2000 “Sysmex”, semi-automatic biochemical analyzer RA-50 “Bayer”, photoelectric concentration colorimeter КФК-2, piston proportioners, analytical scales ВЛА-200-М, microscope Axiolab Zeiss, universal dosimeter UNIDOS, timing device. Results and their novelty: The critical links of the organism which respond to gallium ions were determined. The presence of general toxic action on the cells of the liver, intestine, kidneys, bone marrow as well as a specific effect on the erythrocyte membranes accompanied by increase of coagulation time were shown experimentally. The limits of toxicity in rats were determined. The recommendations on the control of the side-effects at administration of these radiopharmaceuticals for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes were given. Due to infringement of the contract about 67Ga citrate supply, stage 2 of the work (2006) on the radiopharmaceutical investigation has not been planned.
