Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 The techniques for the verification and differential diagnosis of the morphologically similar large cell paediatric cancers (Burkitt's lymphoma of sporadic type, neuroblastoma, PNET, Ewing sarcoma, embryonic rhabdomyosarcoma, osteogenic and synovial sarcoma, chondrosarcoma) have been elaborated as well as the techniques for early detection of bone marrow metastases of these tumours. 358 patients from children oncological departments have been examined including 177 patients with the primary and metastatic lesions in bone marrow and 181 patients with various forms of the solid tumours. The algorithm of the primary diagnosis has been worked out and the panel of monoclonals for the differential diagnosis of "small round blue cell" tumours have been defined. The complex approach combining morphological, cytochemical and immunocytochemical techniques including the extended panel of monoclonals are required for the verification of the morphologically similar childhood cancers.
