Kavetsky Institute of Experimental Pathology, Oncology and Radiobiology popup.description2 The structural alterations of L-MYC and site-specific rearrangments of C-MYC have been revealed upon the long-term exposure of human malignant lymphoid cells with to the subtoxic doses of vepeside or fludarabine. The structure of BCL-2 was not altered upon the same exposures. The different patterns of gene alterations upon the exposure to vepeside or fludarabine in B- and T-cell transplantable cell lines suggests the selectivity of the target genes for the anticancer drugs affecting DNA by different mechanisms. The deletions and rearrangements induced by the low doses of DNA topoisomerase II inhibitor may serve as the genetic markers of recombinogenic and gene-specific effects exerted by the drugs of this class. The characteristic alterations detected in the genome of the human malignant lymphoid cells suggest that the novel viable clones with selective advantages seem to be generated.
