Potebnja Institute of Linguistics of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine popup.description2 During January 2001 - December 2005 department of western and southern Slavic languages researched the dynamic processes in modern Ukrainian, Czech, Polish and Slovak lexicons and topical issues of history of Ukrainian language, sociolinguistics and linguastylistic. The researches proceeded in the following directions: 1) compiling the register of Ukrainian part of the 3d (aditional) volume of "Ukrainian-Czech dictionary"; 2) compiling "Ukrainian-Polish dictionary"; 3) creating "Ukrainian-Polish phrase book" and "Ukrainian-Slovak phrase book", 4) creating the monograph "Theory and practise of language planning in early XXI century"; 5) composing articles and preparing reports for international congresses and conferences; 6) reviewing and commenting on scientific literature. In a course of topical research 3 monographs were published: V.M.Rusanivsky "History of Ukrainian literary language" (26,5 printed sides), V.M.Rusanivsky "The word's eternity: (T.G. Shevchenko's language style)" (13 printed sides),V.M.Rusanivsky, L.I.Danylenko, V.V.Chumak, V.E.Fedoniuk "Ukrainian linguistics by western and southern Slavs" (10 p.s.) and two phrase books: "Ukrainian-Czech parallels in texts and situations" (K.: Dovira, 2002; 17,5 p.s.), "Ukrainian-Polish phrase book", (K.: Perun, 2004, 13,5 p.s.). According to the subject 34 articles were published, 15 of which in foreign editions, 2 reports presented at XIII International Slavs forum in Ljubljana (Slovenia, 2003).
