Aim of investigation - to define selenium content in the ground, output, to substantiate scientifically the use of selenium containing substances under celery on the typical chernozem in the Left Bank Forest-Steppe of Ukraine. By the results of conducted investigations of the typical chernozem with irrigation under the Left Bank of Ukraine conditions it is determined that selenium and mineral fertilizers influence positively on biometric indices of vegetable plants (quantity of leaves and their length). The use of different kinds of mineral fertilizers at the background of selenium increases the celery yield on 4-33% (on the control - 199c/ha), the celery yield with the action of different selenium doses at the background of mineral fertilizers increased on 1-30% (on the control - 209c/ha), the use of spray nutrition by selenium solution and treatment of celery seeds before sowing increased the yield on 4-30% (on the control - 194c/ha). With sufficiently high selenium content in the ground (1.42 mg/kg of the ground) celery roots do not accumulate selenium on control variants. When applying selenium in the ground in the dose 50 g/ha the selenium content increases to 90 mkg/kg of dry matter. The maximum dose of selenium 150 g/ha at the background of the complete mineral fertilizer ensures 300 mkg/kg of selenium in celery roots.
