Hydrothermal decomposition of the mixture of coprecipitated hydroxides under alkaline medium was used. The level-by-level slip casting of layered materials, which consist of layers of different chemical compositions, was designed. It was found, that under level-by-level slip casting the "regular" microstructures of separate layers were received, irrespective of the contents in them of alumina. The pressureless sintering of produced layered materials at the temperatures 1100 С and 1450 С on an air was investigated. Composites with the densities varied from 5,4 g/sm 3 up to 5,9 g/sm 3 were produced . It was determined, that the materials strength behaviors were varied depending on the sintering temperature . The fracture toughness of composites was varieded from 2,3-4,5 MPa.m0,5 up to 3,3-5,6 MPa.m0,5. For the strength testing the biaxial bending was used. The strength was varied from 429 - 958 MPa up to 356 - 649 MPa. It was found, that developed technological steps allowed to form the layered composite wath nonstress microstructure . The research results can be used for development of different classes of layered functional materials, which consist of layers of different chemical composition in the ZrO2-Y2O3-CeO2-Al2O3 system .
