It has been revealed that in an early post traumatic period the patients suffer an excessive activation of free radical processes in the brain tissue, which causes the damage of neuronal membranes. The anti-oxidant protection by means of alpha-tocoferol and ascorbic acid turned out to be of low efficiency for the protection of brain against the oxidant stress. The treatment with emoxipin has been insufficient too. A combined application of alpha-tocoferol and emoxipin in a dose of 10 mg/kg per 24 hours has given the best neuro-protective effect. The reduction of emoxipin dose worsened the results of study and that of treatment and the increase of the dose has not had any advantages. There has been noticed the improvement in the indices of brain blood flow with the combined treatment of alpha-tocoferol and emoxipin. On the basis of monitoring of cranial body impedance and integral body impedance there has been developed a method of diagnostics of brain edema.
