The purpose of the work consists estimation of straw surplus potential in regions of Ukraine for its use instead of fossil fuels. Gathering, analysis, and systematization of the data concerning areas under crops of agricultural grain and leguminous cultures (winter, summer) and gross grain yield in regions of Ukraine have been carried out. Calculations concerning potential part of straw which can be used for energy production have been carried out. Field of application of the obtained results is power engineering.
