It is established that such inclusions are formed due to the fact that oxygen vacancies and aluminum atoms cross the crystal lattice. Submicron inclusions are pores containing aluminum atoms and its suboxides. Thermoforce treatment of Ti-sapphire leads to destruction of submicron inclusions due to diffusion or dissolution of dislocations.
