Dynamics of the development of the relations between Ukraine and European Union, influence of the enlargement on public transformations and economic situation in Ukraine, including forming of civil society, was investigated. The aim of the work was analysis of positive and negative experience of public transformations on the way to the EU in post-socialist countries, that became its members on May 1,2004 or are joining it in January 2007. Besides that, the development of Ukraine's relations with European Union generally and with particular its members and candidates on joining the EU, first of all with Poland and Germany, and the influence on these relations of political, economic, social and historic factors were investigated. Methods of the investigation included gathering and analysis of the informational documents of European Commission and European Parliament, President, Verhovna Rada and government of Ukraine, statistic materials of the government departments of Ukraine and member states, analytical works of the international funds and organizations. As a result, it was found out that the enlargement of the EU on the East had positive influence on political and economical processes in Ukraine, promoted development of democratic institutions, increasing of the goods turnover between our country and the members of European Union. Entering the EU had positive influence on the development of all new members.
