The analysis of mathematical models which are used in the systems of statistical diagnostics of power equipment is performed, and a umber of basic diagnostic parameters for determination of the actual state and failures forecasting of power equipment is defined. On the basis of the use of statistical spline-functions in the forecasting of the power equipment failures, a method to get a time domain, in which a failure of the explored equipment will come with the defined level of confiding probability, is developed. Application of this approach in practice will result in more exact planning of terms of technical service and repair works, which ensure more complete use of technical resource of such equipment,.
