Paton Electric Welding Institute popup.description2 Generalized theoretical and experimental relationships on the nature of cracking in welding of high-alloy steels and alloys were derived on the basis of the investigation results. Peculiarities of underwater arc welding were studied, and self-shielding wire was developed for wet underwater welding. Electrodes ANV-17U and ANV-70V were developed for welding heat-resistant and high-temperature steels. The investigation results obtained allowed reduction of labor intensity and time needed to fabricate welded structures, widening of the range of weldable structural materials, and extension of service life of welded structures without repair.
