Kholodny Institute of Botany NASU popup.description2 The modern status, formation pathways, main habitats and characteristics of the alien fraction of the Black Sea area flora are outlined, the threats of adventization of the flora are identified, and proposals for mitigation of impacts are made. National and international terminology and main classification schemes of invasive plant species are analyzed, criteria for identifying the invasive potential of alien plant species are proposed, and the invasive core (94 sр.) of the regional alien flora is identified. Much attention is paid to ecotopological differentiation of invasive plant species, their participation in anthropic and natural florocomplexes and plant communities. According to their invasive potential, 66 sp. reached biogeographical success, and 28 sр., phytocenotic success. The structure of the invasive core and distribution degree of species of the core are analyzed; special attention is given to key-stone species or transformers causing the main adverse impact upon the flora and vegetation.An annotated list of invasive species of the Black Sea area is compiled, the relevant database format is developed.
