The barogravimetric technique of phase transmutation analysis has been developed enabling to study the dehydration kinetics with peak sensitivity of <10-7g. Reasons for NaI?2H2O crystalline hydrate breakdown at room temperature have been determined. The nature, buildup mechanism and dehydration of “high-temperature water” in materials based on halogenide metals have been determined. In these materials water appears to be in the intragranular hydrate or saturated solution.
