The object of the research was archaeological studying of historical and topographical structure, fortifications, housing and economical buildings of Hubynsky site of ancient settlements, analysis generalization of material monuments discovered in the process of archaeological excavations, involving the data of the Old Russian chronicle about Bolokhiv in the ХІІ - ХІІІ centuries. Results: in the process of archaeological excavations in 2004 - 2006 in the site of the ancient settlement of Hubyn town almost 900 square metres area was discovered. Considerable material was researched, especially remains of the defensive land-wooden bank, two three-field areas that cover the cultural layer of the Kyiv Rus, about 20 housing and economical complexes of the ХІІ - ХІІІ centuries: land one and two-storied buildings; stoves, wooden fellings. Considerable material stuff was discovered, namely 6 treasure items (goods made from ceramics, iron braze, stone, bones, glass mainly fragments of pots and a shape of cuff-like crown among them; iron goods, mainly knives, sickles, spade items, objects of military accoutrements, blacksmith instruments, means for making plates and dishes, household things, complicated locks of cylindrical construction, padlocks and keys to them, goods made of stone and bone for knife, needles, razors, sickles, scythes sharpening, bracelets, pendants etc.) Due to the research, peculiarities of the building of the system of housing-economical complexes, constructive peculiarities of building had been made. The archaeological expeditions that were made up, material findings studying, detail research of the annalistic sources and published works allowed to form more complete conception about complicated social and economic processes, occurring all over the Bolokhiv land in the ХІІ - ХІІІ centuries.
