Karazin popup.description2 Objects of investigation - sterically hindered derivatives of 1,2-bis-benzazolylbenzene, deriva-tives of iminocoumarin benzimidazole, oxadiazole, 3-hydroxychromone with intramolecular hydrogen bonding capable to excited state proton phototransfer reactions. Crown-containing derivatives of chal-cone, cyanine dyes, diflavonols, isoflavones and 3-thyazolylchromones, complexes of the above com-pounds with alkali-earth metal ions. Inclusion complexes of the investigated fluorescent dyes with pro-tein globules and liposomic lipid bilayers. The main aim of the Project - synthesis and testing of the new highly sensible organic fluores-cent probes, labels and products of their binding to biological macromolecules; investigation of the methods of their usage in biophysics and medicine. The theoretical and experimental investigation of the excited state phototransfer reaction (ESIPT) was conducted for amino-iminocoumarins, 3-hydroxychromones and benzimidazoles/oxadiazoles of the chain structure. The synthesis ofcom-pounds with enhanced spectral parameters was made on this basis. The excited state structural relaxa-tion was studied for the sterically hindered bis-benzazolylbenzenes. The theoretical and experimental study of the excited state charge transfer was made for several derivatives of chalcone, chromone and cyanine dyes. The complexation effect on the spectral properties on the charge and proton phototrans-fer and mutual transformations of the forming proton- and metal ions related photoproducts were stud-ied for the above mentioned compounds. The media effects on the charge and proton phototransfer (solvent nature, pH, metal ions concentration, etc.) were evaluated with the aim of their utilization while using the dyes on study as fluorescent probes for the biochemical, biophysical and medical ap-plications. The interaction mechanisms between the fluorescent probes - chromone, coumarin, phthalimide derivatives with the real biological targets and their artificial models (such as liposomes as the models of lipid bilayers of the cell membranes) were investigated as well.
