The objective of the researchers was to provide preliminary expertise of ecological consequences for expansion of the container terminal according to two proposals. The influence of dredgirg and dumping of sediment on abiotic and biological components of the port ecosystem was studied. Both versions for expansion of the existing terminal propose an almost equal volume of dredging and an equal area of washed over territory. That is why, the chief difference is in water exchange and level of influence on the aquatic ecosystem of adjacent marine locations. In summarizing, recommendations have been given on lowering the negative influence on the aquatic ecosystem of the port. 186 pages, 35 tables, 4 figures, literature cited - 99, annexes -88 .Keywords: port water area, hydrology, hydrochemistry, hydrobiology, eutrophication, phytoplankton, phytobentos, zooplankton, zoobenthos, ichthyofauna, fish productivy, estimation of losses.
