Peculiarites of the formation of cadmium selenide nanoparticles in aqueous polyphosphate solutions at the interaction between CdCl2 and Na2SeSO3 have been studied. It has been shown that the CdSe nanocrystals incorporated in gelatin films have narrow photoluminescence bands, the position of the bands being dependent upon the thermal treatment of the starting CdSe colloids. Photocatalytic activity of CdxZn1-xS nanoparticles in the initiation of some water-soluble monomer polymerization has been found. It has been shown that the reactions proceed with high efficiency both in degassed and in air-exposed solutions.
