Object under investigation: lead-containing waste products and secondary raw materials ore of the gold-lead-zinc deposit at Muzhyivsk. Purpose of the work: to work out physicochemical fundamentals of chemical and electrochemical processes for the extraction of lead from various raw materials and to develop new technologies and equipment which can be brought to a commercial level in industry. Methods of investigation: thermodynamic, X-ray phase, chemical analysis, electrolysis, polarography, chronovoltammetry, potentiometry, thermogravimetry, method of solubility of compounds in aqueous and molten media, Auger spectroscopy, gravimetry, chemical-spectral method, VG mass spectrometry. A thermochemical method for the reduction of concentrates of lead and gold-bearing sulfide ores of the Muzhyiv deposit is proposed. The phenomenon of lead sulfide self-reduction to elemental lead and sulfur (yield 77.4%), has been discovered. A complex technology for the extraction of lead, gold and silver from sulfide concentrates has been developed. On the basis of studying the kinetic parameters of lead (II) oxide reduction by carbon, a process for the thermochemical recovery of lead-containing secondary raw materials (processing of battery scrap) has been developed. A pyroelectrolytic method for the processing of battery scrap has been developed. The kinetics and mechanism of lead ionization and lead ion discharge in chlorate and chlorate-tartrate solutions have been investigated by the methods of disk electrode and disk-ring electrode. To refine lead to a high purity, a reaction electrolysis method using a depressant (tellurium) is proposed. The impurity content of high-purity lead refined by reaction electrolysis with solid electrodes is about an order of magnitude lower than that required by the state standard GOST 3778-78. In the course of the investigations, new unconventional energy-saving, environmentally safe technologies safe technologies for the production of commercial and high-purity lead, its compounds, and gold concentrates have been developed. These developments have been tested on a pilot scale. Predictive suggestions about the development of the object under investigation: after the pilot-plant testing of the technologies developed, they can be brought to a commercial level on an industrial scale at nonferrous metal works in Ukraine and CIS countries. Keywords: lead-containing secondary raw materials, ore, chemical and electrochemical processes, energy-saving technologies, lead, lead compounds, gold concentrates, production.Terms of receiving the report: on a contractual basis.
