The knowledge about the influence of ligands' structure and concentration, and reaction temperature on the processes of sulfur dioxide absorption taking place in the systems based on some nitrogen- and oxygen- containing compounds has been extended . It has been established that basalt tuff can be used as a support of metal-complex catalysts for the low-temperature sulfur dioxide oxidation by the air oxygen. Antimicrobial and fungicidal properties of aqueous solutions containing coordination compounds of carbamide with chemicals of SO2 have been found. A catalyst based on tuff-supported copper(II) chloride and potassium iodide has been developed for the low-temperature sulfur dioxide oxidation.
