In the worked out drafts of Standards for plant-ing material of main vegetable crops there are defined technical demands to mother plants of head cabbage and onion with the regard for demands, which are made during mechanical harvesting and planting, and actual opportunities of obtaining seed with high sowing and varietal qualities. Regulations of packing, marking, transportation and storage for ensuring mother plants preservation are determined. There are studied legislative acts, normative documents and other legal rules as for the life and health of people and nature preservation during carrying out techno-logical operations. The worked out Standards will favour the solution of priority problems - increase the quality of head cabbage and onion seed with preservation of biological and economically - valuable signs of plants, that will allow the ob-tained produce to compete at seed market and also safety of work for the life and health of people. Becides that, the Standards for mother plants of cabbage and on-ion, with regulating the quality, will simultaneously influence introduction into production new varieties and hybrids. The Standards are being worked up in Uk-raine for the first time. The Standards after coming in force will be used in vegeta-ble growing by producers of different forms of property, which are occupied with growing of head cabbage and onion seed.
