Aim of the work - to create and give to the State Commission of Ukraine for Testing and Protection of Plant Varieties the variety of red cabbage with high yield and quality of produce, relatively resistant to fusarial wilt, black rot, suitable for long storage in winter - spring period and fresh consumption. The method of complex polycross was used. For hybridization there were used varieties of Hako variety type. On the average for three years of variety testing the variety Polyna topped the standard by 10,8 t/ha. The output of marketable heads in the yield structure made up 96,7%. The vegetative period of the new variety is 140-150 days. Leaf rosette is medium, the length of the stem is medium. The length of low leaves petioles is 5-7 cm, the leaves are vague lyre-shaped and lyre-shaped. The leaf blade is broad-oval and broad-opposite-ovate, strongly concave, with wavy edge. Leaves colour is bluish-violet, with violet veins. The head shape is rounded, in section is firm, it has very high tasting indices of fresh produce. It is suitable for pickling and has high biochemical indices, variety is distinguished by heightened resistance to fusarial wilt. The red cabbage variety Polyna is recommended for growing in different zones of Ukraine, for fresh use in winter - spring period and for pickling. There is created and given to the State Commission of Ukraine the middle - late variety of red cabbage Polyna.
