The research project aims at producing a breadboard system for monitoring the near-Earth environment by using satellite signals, developing techniques for measuring total electron content, estimating parameters of quasi-periodic disturbances, developing computer codes, and performing test runs. The subject of investigation involves scientific instrumentation for measuring ionospheric total electron content, data reduction techniques, and computer codes. The research project applies theoretical and experimental techniques, and computer simulations. The viability of developing a system for simultaneously recording radio signals from low-Earth orbiting satellites and satellites in semisynchronous (12-h) orbits has been validated. The description of the system and its specifications are presented. The report contains the developed techniques for determining ionospheric total electron content and parameters of quasi-periodicdisturbances based on the records of pseudo range to satellites and radio signal phase of satellite signals, the corresponding computer codes, and the results of test runs. The research project has produced a breadboard system (which is made of radio components manufactured in Ukraine) for monitoring the near-Earth environment by using satellite signals, the developed techniques, and computer codes for performing calculations. The results may be applied to developing a Ukrainian system for monitoring the near-Earth environment by using satellite signals and to space studies.
