A purpose of the work was an increase of OESS efficiency by perfection of calculation theory and creation of new methods of determination of basic parameters of these systems. The results of the work are mathematical model of complex "object - background - atmosphere - OESS - operator" for visible and infra-red ranges of spectrum; methods of calculations of basic features of OESS; optimization procedure of a "display is an operator" angular magnification on the criterion of a maximum of geometrical noise band. The novelty of work is that it is possible to analyse within the framework of the unique model, synthesize and optimize OESS both from traditional for the CIS approaches and basic foreign methods.
