The several specific aspects of the problem also studied: (1) The genesis and general principles of Nazi occupation policy towards Ukraine; (2) The implementation of this policy and its connection to the aims of the central authorities in Berlin as well as national, social and economical aspects of Hitler's "New Order" during Nazi occupation period; (3) The process of the development of Ukrainian resistance movement in this period, its structure, strategy and tactics as well as its forms and methods. The influence of different factors affecting the tactics of the Ukrainian resistance also studied. This study tries to identify socio-demographic and material losses of Ukraine. The research shows that insurgent movement operated mainly on the basis of local support and without foreign help. It was a unique phenomenon among the resistance movements in Europe during World War II.
