Purpose - enhancement of scientific and practical aspects of expert activity of the SGCU, fulfilling of the regulation acts on attestation rules for precious stones, elaboration of qualitative and appraisal value basis on attestation rules for color precious stones of the State Fund of Precious Metals and Precious Stones of Ukraine of the State Storehouse of Ukraine. Research methods - mineralogical method, expert appraisal, market monitoring. Results allow to elaborate draft technical requirements for classification, grading and attestation of color precious stones of the first category (Technical specification of Ukraine 36.2-21587162.003-2007 Emeralds, Rubies, Blue Sapphires, Alexandrites). They will serve as a basis for value indices on precious stones by their quality. Implementation level - draft technical requirements are being prepared for thestate registration. Cooperation witht other works - structure of draft technical requirements is based on elaboration by the SGCU - technical requirements for Diamonds (Technical specification of Ukraine 36.2-21587162.001-2002). Application sphere - the technical requirements (TR) cover natural and synthetic emeralds, rubies, blue sapphires, alexandrites in jerellery for national Ukrainian market and export. The technical requirements are suggested for usage by the State Gemmological Centre of Ukraine, as well as other companies, institutions and organizations at the territory of Ukraine and enterprisers by contract obligations.
