Borimsky, Registration Date 06-02-2008 Organization V.Bakul Institute for Superhard Materials popup.description2 New designs of small-size toroid HPA and cells for growing structurally uniform diamond single crystals by the T-gradient method (the growing cycle length up to 150 h at a loading up to 20 MN) have been developed and used in the ISM experimental production. Using the numerical modeling of the stressed-strained state and temperature fields, a small-size toroid HPA with holes in the matrices 60 mm in diameter for growing diamond crystals at a loading up to 50 MN has been developed. The new apparatus makes it possible to increase the working and growth volumes by a factor of more than 3 as compared with the existing apparatuses. A resource-saving technology for the manufacture of HPA supporting rings from blanks produced by upset with preliminary plastic strain has been developed and used in the ISM experimental production. An improved design of a small-size 20 MN high-pressure press with a mechanical drive for growing diamond single crystals has been developed and manufactured.
