It was established that after preliminary thermal treatment the initial nanopowders were characterized by high dispersity, reactivity and sintering ability. The sintering compact was prepared by the method of cold uniaxial pressing not using additions. Tje method of vacuum sintering was applied to obtain experimental samples of Lu2O3:Eu3+ optical ceramics with the relative density running into 99.9% of the theoretical value. Their transmission coefficient T= 13% in 200 - 900 nm wavelength region (for 1 mm thick sample).
