Aim of the study: Estimation of OR functioning, obtaining new information on DM patients’ treatment in Ukraine. Methods of study: Follow-up studies of DM patient populations from regions of Ukraine using OR; biochemical, immunoenzymic studies of risk factors and immunological indices in DM patients. Results: an OR has been established, which contains data on insulin therapy (99,968 patients), therapy with oral hypoglycemic agents (134,031 patients), as well as mortality data (28,703 cases). An analysis of mortality among type 2 DM patients using Cox regression model allowed to estimate simultaneously the impact of DM duration and character of treatment. An analysis of the OR of DM patients has shown positive changes in the quality of patients’ treatment. The significance of some cardiovascular (CV) risk factors has been estimated, and possible efficacy of correcting some of these factors has been considered. The clinico-immunological status of children with hereditary predisposition to type 1 DM was studied by determining presence or absence of increased titers of diabetes-associated antibodies (DAAB) in peripheral blood - up to possible development of type 1 DM in these children. A register on 226 practically healthy normoglycemic children both sex with hereditary predisposition to type 1 DM, aged 8 to 16 years, has been established.
