A purpose of work is the development of geographical information system of the lost geographic objects in Dnepropetrovsk area, and also creation the atlas of lost geographical objects of the region, in the paper and electronic variants. Research methods: system, substantional, structural and functional analysis, synthesis, classification and systematization, researching of sources, cartographic method. The bank of information «Lost geographical objects of Dnepropetrovsk area» is created. It includes next parts: «Lost natural geographical objects» , «Lost socio-economic (human made) geographical objects», an atlas which includes more than 40 maps and map’s fragments, made in different scales, is developed. This work is conducted first. Meaningfulness of work consists in development of GIS on the basis of the selected and systematized information from historical documents and cartographic sources about the lost geographical objects of Dnepropetrovsk area. The created geographical information system and atlas of lost geographical objects of region can be used in industry of geographical, philological, historical, culture education, in scientific and to encyclopedic literature, industries of cognitive tourism and others like that.
