The question of possibility of functioning of artistic school is examined in a modern culture. There is traced development of concept of "art school", influencies, creative personality of Daniil Lider was formed under. Despite a widespread idea, an author considers that school of Lider is not artistic school in the classic understanding. Work is complemented by the cycle of interviews of operating Ukrainian designers which attribute itself to the students of Lider and acknowledges his influencing deciding for forming of own artistic world view.
