Vernadsky University popup.description2 The objects of the given scientific investigation are written, archaeological, numismatic and epigraphic monuments of the Crimea dating to different periods. The purpose of the work is a complex research of ethno-cultural and ethno-political processes that took place in the Black Sea Coast Region in the Middle Ages and the present days. Basing on comprehensive studies of new materials obtained in the course of research, basic phases of poly-ethnic formations in the medieval Crimea and the problems of genesis of cities were established. Scientific work was carried out in accordance with the requirements of methods of field archaeological and complex source studies and historiographic research. As the result of scientific developments new materials on the history and culture of the peoples of the Crimean regions were obtained. The stages of formation of specific medieval cities (Mangup, Eski-Kermen, Bosporus, Chufut-Kale) were traced in connection with changes of ethnic situation on the peninsula. The character of coinage and turnover in Taurica of Byzantine, the Golden Horde periods and the epoch of the Crimean Khanate as one of main factors of the development of trade-monetary relations of city markets were studied. Little known archive and bibliographic materials on the history of the Eastern-European Karaites and Krymchaks and cultural-elucidative movement in their communities in the 19th - 20th centuries were studied and introduced into scientific turnover. The results of research are presented in 6 monographs, 37 articles in scientific publications in our country and abroad, and 3 manuals. 2 candidate theses on the theme of research are prepared.
