Reduction of ketophosphonates with a comlex of NaBH4 with D- or L-tartaric acid led to formation of corresponding (S) - or (R)-hydroxyphosphonates. Reduction of chiral di(1R, 2S, 5R)-menthylketophosphonates with chiral complex of NaBH4 /(R, R)-tartaric acid as a result of double matched asymmetric induction increased the stereoselectivity up to 90 de %.
