Development of xerostomia correlates with the alteration of Ca2+ handling in submandibular acinar cells. In particular we found increase in resting level of [Ca2+]i, amplitude of ACh-induced [Ca2+]i transients, decrease of ionomycin- and IP3-induced Ca2+ release from the endoplasmic reticulum and activity of Ca2+-ATPases both plasma membrane and endoplasmic reticulum during the development of xerostomia. Thus xerostomia is accompanied by disturbance of resting and agonist-induced Ca2+ handling and these mechanisms can be used as a potential targets for the development of pharmacological treatment of xerostomia.5635 Product Description popup.authors popup.nrat_date 2020-04-02 Close
