It was shown, that the b-diketonates of transition metals, in particular, Cobalt (III) acetylacetonate can be used as the high effective initiators of the polymerization" from the surface" of the substrate. It was proposed the chemical mechanism of radical polymerization initiation of monomers from the surface of modified substrate previously functionalized with acetylacetonates of transition metals.
